How do you define CHANGE ?

What is change and how do we define it?

What is it about change that makes it so scary or uncomfortable?
Is it fear of the unknown and uncertainty?

Why are we willing to compromise our true desires because of fear of change?

I define change as wanting something different. Whether it is a physical change, mental change, or career change

It has been my experience that most people will experience this in there career. They will compromise there dreams and stick with what they believe is security to there life in there jobs.

Is it really fear that we feel or is it our thoughts dictating our life? I think it is both. When I was at my last position I remember thinking that I didn’t want to be a quitter if I resigned. Well as you can see that thought was causing me to feel distressed and then created the action of doing nothing. The result of the thought and feelings was-I would stop dead in my tracks and force myself to stay in a place that I felt was toxic and unhealthy.

So I am here to say that life does happen after realizing that your own thoughts can hold you captive to our lives or in a cube. See we all have thoughts that could turn into beliefs and then they become limiting because they stop us from doing what we want to do.

Where do the beliefs come from?

Some of them come from our own rules and expectations that we place on our selves.
Some of them we got as children, some of the beliefs we picked up along the way of life. But I know for sure a lot of them come from our own society or what the world tells us.
Make a steady income, save for retirement, kids must go to a private school, don’t leave work early people will think I am lazy, things will work itself out, the harder you work the more money you will make, I am truly happy, but why do I feel so discontent -stay at the job you have you own so much pension, stay at my job because I have been here for so long, but why do I feel dissatisfied -so as you can see these beliefs can dictate your life because it creates blockage, feeling stuck and most importantly stops you from living your true desire.

Most of the sentences above could be thoughts at one point that have now become limiting beliefs because in some way it is causing you distress at some level or a bit of suffering but most importantly it is holding you back from getting what you want.

The other thing I would recall is accepting that you want change and being true to what you want. After accepting you want change, allow yourself to embrace that feeling of wanting change rather than introduce worry, fear or stress. When we begin to experience worry, fear, stress then we are creating resistance to change in some way and it may come from our thinking. Let your heart mange your life and use your mind as a tool to reach the goals you want. When our negative thoughts/limiting beliefs get in the way of our true desires then we know that there may be some resistance. For some of us this may not be the case and they hop skip to the next opportunity, take the risk, create a career transition and begin a discovering and exploring what they may like. I guess what I mean by career transition is doing something totally different. Doing that one thing you have truly desired to do. Not just desire but yearn for.

What kind of change do I yearn for?
What kind of work would allow me to follow my dream?
What talent or strength do I have that I enjoy and would love to capitalize on?

We each have something that comes natural to us, but the key is what comes natural to you, that feels good and gives your strength

Natural talent that feels good + activity that gives me strength = doing what I love

Steps of change
Accept – accept the situation at hand and stop fighting with reality
Embrace – embrace the potential opportunities ahead
How to identify resistance in yourself - Louis Hay says take a look at yourself in the mirror every morning and say you really love yourself: What do you really feel ? ( this helps you understand what you could be feeling as a starting point )
How to remove resistance –learn to love yourself, affirmations, journaling, practice discipline of law of attraction

Most important thing to remember is you deserve to do what you love –

What do you yearn for to change?
